In her four-page suicide note, she expressed that her parents had high expectations for her to study IAS, but she was not able to fulfill their aspirations. Police said that the girl got upset after her mother reprimanded her. Relatives of the girl tried to perform her last rites without informing the police. But after getting this information, the police stopped the efforts and sent her body for postmortem. A case of suspicious death was registered and the police shifted the body to the hospital.

This happened before the death of students in Kallakurichi and Kilacheri, which had recently created a tense situation in the same state. The incident took place a few days after a 12th class student attempted suicide after being tortured by her teachers in Kallakurichi in the state. After the death of a female student in a private school in Kallakuruchi after she jumped from the hostel, the Salem police made heavy security around the school and other areas as violent protests broke out in the district. Section 144 had to be imposed in many areas. The High Court directed the police to find out who instigated the violence.
