But after getting this information, the police stopped the efforts and sent her body for postmortem. A case of suspicious death was registered and the police shifted the body to the hospital.
This happened before the death of students in Kallakurichi and Kilacheri, which had recently created a tense situation in the same state. A class 12 student committed suicide by hanging herself in the hostel room of a government aided school in Tiruvallur district on Monday morning. According to the Madras High Court judgement, any death in an educational institution has to be investigated by the CB-CID.
The incident took place a few days after a 12th class student attempted suicide after being tortured by her teachers in Kallakurichi in the state. After the death of a female student in a private school in Kallakuruchi after she jumped from the hostel, the Salem police made heavy security around the school and other areas as violent protests broke out in the district. Section 144 had to be imposed in many areas. The High Court directed the police to find out who instigated the violence.
In this background, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin reacted to these suicide incidents. The students were asked to give up thoughts of committing suicide. He asked to turn difficulties into successes. He warned that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators of sexual, mental and physical abuse of female students.
