GHMC: GHMC's record in property tax collections. Do you know how many crores in 3 months?.

Baldia has established a new history. It created a new record in property tax collections. In the first quarter of this financial year alone, it has earned Rs.929 crores and 22 lakhs. Compared to the last two years, this is the first time that this level of collections has come in the first 3 months. There are indications that these collections will cross the Rs.1000 crore mark by the end of July. This tax was collected from a total of 9 crore 8 lakh 3 hundred 41 assessments under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). In the first 5 days of this month, Rs. 6 crore 13 lakhs have been received.

Never in the past has such a property tax been paid in the first 4 months. In 2020, from April to June, Rs. 682 crores, and in 2021, from April to June, Rs. 620 crores. This year, in the month of April alone, Rs.741 crores and 35 lakhs have been collected. To this extent, the Early Bird (advance property tax payment) scheme implemented by GHMC has become a super success. This scheme started on 1st April and ended on 30th. As part of the scheme, 5 percent concession was given to those who paid property tax in advance.

If you want to pay after July 1, you will also get 2 percent interest (penalty) per month on the outstanding balance till then. That’s why the city dwellers paid the property tax in advance. In the month of May, Rs. 71 crore 45 lakhs were received and in June 116 crores 42 lakhs were received. On April 30th, the early bird scheme ends, and on the 28th, more than Rs. 50 crores of property tax has been deposited in a single day. It is noteworthy that 43 crores and 15 lakhs were collected on a single day on June 30, with the intention of being fined in July. Property owners mostly made payments online (on GHMC website).

Payments were also made at Citizen Service Centres, Mee Seva Kendras and Bill Collectors. Serilingampally recorded the highest share in total collections. Jubilee Hills and Khairatabad are next. The GHMC officials said that the high property tax collection means that businesses and people in Bhagyanagar have recovered from the impact of Covid-19. In the past, if the bill collectors went for property tax collection, the residents of the city said that they were not yet free from the corona effect and asked for more time. But it is a good sign that there are no such requests this year.
