A great tragedy took place during the Chardham Yatra. In Uttarakhand, a bus carrying devotees fell into a valley. Twenty-two people were killed in the incident. The accident took place at Yamunotri National Highway in Damta area. There were 28 people on the bus at the time of the accident. So far 22 bodies have been recovered from the accident. The other six injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police and the SDRF team carried out rescue operations at the scene. The accident took place while the pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh were on their way to Yamunotri.
Authorities said all the dead were from Madhya Pradesh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed deep regret over the accident. He said it was sad that a bus carrying devotees fell into a valley. He said he had spoken to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Tomi about the incident. Amit Shah explained that SDRF forces are currently carrying out relief operations.
