Tamilnadu: Another student commits suicide in Tamil Nadu. This happened before the death of a student in Kallakurichchi, which had recently sparked a tense situation in the same state. The suicide of two students within a fortnight is creating a stir in Tamil Nadu. According to the details of the Tamil Nadu Police, a 12th standard student committed suicide by hanging herself in the hostel room of a government aided school in Tiruvallur district on Monday morning. A 17-year-old girl from Tiruthani is studying in a government-aided school in Kilacheri village of Tiruvallur district. Her parents are daily labourers.
According to the police, the girl told her friends who were going to school on Monday morning that she would be late. However, when she did not return until the first hour had passed, the school staff checked her hostel room and found her hanging from the ceiling. The school staff informed the police and the body was shifted to Tiruvallur Government Hospital for autopsy. Police said that no suicide note was found from the hostel after preliminary investigation. The police said that the girl did not go home for a month. Her friends told the police that she was depressed for the past few months. CBCID officials and Thiruvallur district DSP Selvakumar are investigating the case. CBCID officials are investigating the school staff and hostel warden in the school campus. The authorities are also interrogating the girl’s parents and family members. The school management informed the families of other students staying in the hostel and sent them to their homes.
On the other hand, the girl’s parents and relatives protested by blocking the roads at Tiruthani demanding action against the incident. The parents of the girl said that they are suspicious about this suicide incident. Without knowing what actually happened to their daughter, they asked her to take her body. They revealed that their daughter is not shy enough to commit suicide. Parents said she spoke to them last night too. Mappedu police registered a case and then transferred the case to CBCID. According to the Madras High Court judgement, any death in an educational institution has to be investigated by the CB-CID.

The incident took place just a few days after a 12th class student attempted suicide after being tortured by her teachers in Kallakurichi in the state. After the death of a female student in a private school in Kallakuruchi after she jumped from the hostel, the Salem police made heavy security around the school and other areas as violent protests broke out in the district. Section 144 had to be imposed in many areas. The High Court directed the police to find out who instigated the violence. The last rites of the girl who committed suicide due to harassment by her teachers were held at Veppur in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi on Saturday.
