Silica Sand in AP This auction (E-Auction) was conducted by the government. It received an unexpected response. A record number of bids have been filed for Silichasand e-auction in Nellore district. The e-auction was held for silica sand in six hectares in East Kanpur village in Chillakur zone. The e-auction started with Rs 1.60 crore. Of this, a maximum of Rs. Smarco Industries won the bid by quoting Rs 3.16 crore.
Silica sand is a key mineral in the glass based industry. VG Venkatereddy, Director, Mines Department, said that the government has received a huge amount of mining revenue with Silicasand. A total of five companies competed in the Silicasand tenders. The auction started with a starting price of Rs 1.60 crore, with Smarco Industries quoting the highest at Rs 3,16,20,000. For the first time in the history of the state, Venkatereddy has set a price at this level. He said the auction was conducted with the utmost transparency by the Department of Mines for Silicon Valley mineral reserves.
