Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India is like the mother of democracy and all the people of the country should consider their duties equal to the rights of the country. He inaugurated the Centenary Commemorative Pillar erected to commemorate 100 years of Bihar Vidhan Sabha. He laid the foundation stone for the Vidhana Sabha Museum. Various galleries in the museum showcase the history of democracy in Bihar. It also has a conference hall with a seating capacity of over 250 people. On this occasion, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Vidhansabha guest house. Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and others participated in the event. Prime Minister Modi revealed that he has the distinction of being the first Prime Minister to visit the Bihar Vidhan Sabha complex. He said that he bowed to the affection of the people of Bihar. He said that the Shatabdi Smriti pillar will remind Bihar of many aspirations.
Recalling the glorious history of the Bihar Assembly, the Prime Minister said that one bold decision after another was taken here in the Vidhan Sabha building. Prime Minister Modi said that before independence, Governor Satyendra Prasanna Sinha appealed from this House to encourage indigenous industries and adopt Swadeshi Charkha. “After independence the Zamindari Abolition Act was passed in this Assembly. Taking this tradition forward, the Nitish government passed legislation like Bihar Panchayat Raj. It made Bihar the first state to provide 50 per cent reservation for women in panchayats,” he recalled.

The Prime Minister said that the more prosperous Bihar is, the stronger Indian democracy will be. The Prime Minister pointed out that if Bihar is strong, India will be more capable.
