NCP chief Sharad Pawar revealed that she has been selected as the vice-presidential candidate. The BJP announced on Saturday that it has selected Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar as the NDA’s vice-presidential candidate. Former Governor of Rajasthan Margaret Alva has been selected as the joint candidate for the opposition in the vice-presidential election. The leaders came to this decision after discussion in a meeting held at the residence of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar revealed that Margaret was unanimously selected by the leaders of 17 parties who participated in the meeting. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that they will move forward unitedly in the election of the Vice President. Margaret Alva served as Governor of Goa, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, TRS MPs K. Keshav Rao and Nama Nageswara Rao participated in the meeting of the opposition parties.

It is known that the Central Election Commission has recently issued a notification to hold elections on August 6 for the appointment of a new Vice President in view of the term of office of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu ending on August 10. Margaret Alva reacted on Twitter to her selection as the joint vice presidential candidate of the opposition. He said that he feels very honored to be selected. Margaret Alva, a senior Congress leader, served as the governor of four states in the past. Served as 17th Governor of Goa, 23rd Governor of Gujarat, 20th Governor of Rajasthan and 4th Governor of Uttarakhand. Earlier she also served as Union Minister. Margaret Alva was born on April 14, 1942 in Mangalore, Karnataka. She did her degree in Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. After that, he received his degree in Law from the Government Law College. While studying in college, she actively participated in debate programs and received praise. He also worked in student movements in that order. After that on 24 May 1964, she married a man named Niranjan Thomas. She has three sons and one daughter. She thought of entering politics in 1969. After that, she joined the Congress party and served in many positions.
