Nitin Gadkari: భారత్‌లోనే రోడ్డు ప్రమాదాలు అధికంగా ఉన్నాయి

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed concern over road accidents in the country. He gave a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday on road accidents. According to the World Road Statistics (WRS) 2018 released by the International Road Federation in Geneva, India has the highest number of deaths in road accidents in the world. On the other hand, India ranks third in terms of injuries in road accidents. According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the death toll from road accidents between the ages of 18 and 45 will be 69.80 per cent by 2020.

On the other hand, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was responding to a question from a member of the Rajya Sabha on road development. 1,63,350 crore. In addition to the 5 expressways with a length of 2,485 km, 17 access-controlled highways with a length of 5,816 km will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,92,876 crore. Gadkari explained that fast tags are issued to vehicle users based on the vehicle registration number or chassis number. Gadkari said that as on March 30, 2022, the total number of fast tags issued by various banks was 4,95,20,949 and the spread of fast tags at toll plazas on national highways was about 96.5 per cent.
