Yesterday, searches were conducted at various places across Mumbai. Investigations were conducted in a total of 29 areas. They searched the homes of several Dawood Ibrahim followers in Nagpada, Goregaon, Borivali, Santa Cruz and Mumbai in Mumbai. The NIA has raided the homes of hawala operators, real estate and drug traffickers accused of having links with criminals Dawood Ibrahim. Recently, the NIA summoned 15 people for questioning on allegations of having links with Dawood. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Nawab Malik, a former NCP leader and now a minister in the Shiv Sena government, has been arrested and jailed on charges of money laundering and links to Dawood Ibrahim. The ED alleges that Nawab Malik made cash transactions with Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Hasina Parker. However, Shiv Sena and NCP leaders have accused the arrest of being politically motivated. Parties in the Mahavikas Aghadi government allege that the central government is deliberately using central agencies like the ED, NCB and NIA to destabilize the Maharashtra government. The arrest of Nawab Malik has sparked criticism and counter-criticism between the ruling Shiv Sena, the NCP, the Congress and the BJP.

Dawood Ibrahim, who is currently in Karachi, Pakistan, along with his followers are involved in money laundering and terrorist crimes in India. He operates his network from Karachi. Dawood Ibrahim had links with the 1993 Mumbai blasts. Dawood Ibrahim, D Company, was the mastermind behind the blasts. But since then Dawood Ibrahim has been enjoying royalties in Pakistan. At the same time, the Pakistan Army is protecting Dawood Ibrahim.
