New Delhi: Ink attack on a young woman who allegedly raped the minister's son

A 23-year-old woman who allegedly raped the son of Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Mahesh Joshi has been attacked with ink by some thugs in Delhi. They put ink on her face and fled. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast District) Isha Pandey said they got a call on Saturday night that some thugs had thrown something at the young woman and fled. The woman was rushed to the Ames Trauma Center immediately after the attack.

At around 9.30pm on Saturday night, two men threw ink on a victim who was walking with her mother near Kunj Road and fled. According to her complaint, an FIR has been registered at Shaheen Bagh police station under IPC 195A (threatening to give false testimony), 506 (punishment for criminal threats), 323 (punishment for voluntary injury) and 34 (acts committed by several persons).

Prior to the incident, the victim had lodged a rape case against Rohit Joshi, son of Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Mahesh Joshi, at the Sadar Bazar police station. She alleged that Rohit Joshi had made contact with her through Facebook in 2020. On January 8, 2021, Sawai was taken to Madhopur, where he allegedly gave her a cool drink mixed with narcotics and raped her without her involvement.

Meanwhile, Delhi Women’s Commissioner Chairperson Swati Maliwal has sought a report on the incident. She asked Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot not to try to save his son. The Women’s Commission has sought a report from the Delhi Police on the alleged attack on the victim by some unidentified persons with ink and threatening her.
