Recently, the central government has taken a key decision to develop vaccines and diagnostic kits against monkeypox. Tenders have been invited for the manufacture of vaccines. This was revealed by a senior official of the Union Health Ministry. Recently ICMR-NIV Pune has isolated monkeypox virus from patient samples and cultured it. Officials revealed that it matched 99.85 percent with the West African race.

Currently, the Indian government is also vigilant about monkeypox. Monkeypox has already issued guidelines. Apart from this, 15 labs have been set up for monkeypox diagnosis. Currently, the central government has waved the green flag for the preparation of vaccination. Monkeypox usually subsides within two to four weeks. But experts say that in some cases it can become fatal. Monkeypox cases have a mortality rate of 3-6 percent. People who have close contact with an infected person are more likely to get the disease.
