Minister KTR wrote a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Minister KTR was angry with the Modi government for selling 40,000 crore Telangana assets. The Center is trying to sell the central public sector companies in Telangana. KTR said the Modi government was selling Hindustan Cables Limited, Hindustan Florocarbons Limited, Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited, HMT, Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI) and ordinance factories as part of its disinvestment plans.
The state had earlier allotted about 7200 acres of land to these 6 companies. These lands are worth at least Rs 5,000 crore at government prices. According to open market prices, the value of the land will be around Rs 40,000 crore. They want to start new industries and companies on the lands allotted by the state to the respective public sector undertakings.
Otherwise, the land should be transferred to the state government. He said that the land should be utilized in a way that would contribute to the all-round development of Telangana. The decision to withdraw investment in public sector undertakings should be reversed. Minister KTR questioned the Centre’s right to sell land given by the state government to the central government, which is demanding compensation at market prices if it asks for land for public works projects like Skyway for public transport in Hyderabad city.
