At least 14 people have been killed so far in a landslide in Manipur state. Authorities suspect another 60 people were trapped. Many still seem to be trapped under the rubble. Manipur DGP P Dongle said 14 people were killed when 23 people were pulled out of a landslide. Along with the Indian Army, the Assam Rifles and the Territorial Army have been conducting rescue operations since the incident. Army, railway personnel and laborers from nearby villages were trapped under the landslides. Despite the unfavorable conditions .. Supportive measures are ongoing.

The incident took place after midnight on Wednesday near Tupul railway station in Manipur’s Noni district. Due to heavy rains, landslides broke out on the bases of 107 Territorial Army deployed nearby. The Army is there to protect the railway line being constructed from Jiribam to Imphal. Prime Minister Modi himself is reviewing the relief measures. PM Modi spoke to Manipur CM Biren Singh. He promised to provide any help from the Centre. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Modi expressed shock over this incident.
