There are 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra. The Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress formed the Maha Vikas Agadi Coalition and formed the government. The government had the support of 169 MLAs. However, with the Shiv Sena uprising led by Eknath Shinde, about 50 MLAs formed a separate faction. The opposition BJP has 106 MLAs. The BJP is supported by RSP (1), JSS (1) and five independents.
