Rebel leaders of BJP and Shiv Sena formed the government. Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray’s faction has recently faced a huge setback. Out of 67 corporators of the Thane Municipal Corporation, 66 supported the Ek Nath Shinde faction.
Thane Municipal Corporation is like a bastion for Shiv Sena. Thane Municipal Corporation is the most important after Mumbai. The tenure of the 131-member Thane Municipal Corporation ended a few days ago. Elections are likely to be held soon. In this context, former Mayor Naresh Maske and CM Ek Nath Shinde came together at Nandanavan Bungalow and expressed their support.

In the past months, Ek Nath Shinde had clashed with the then CM Uddhav Thackeray and formed a camp in Guwahati with 39 Shiv Sena MLAs. Rebel MLAs have withdrawn their support to the Mahavikas Aghadi government led by NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena. In this background the MVA government collapsed. With the help of BJP, Shinde became the Chief Minister. Two more Shiv Sena MLAs joined Ek Nath Shinde’s faction during the consolidation. It is reported that 12 of Shiv Sena’s 18 MPs will join Shinde’s faction
