Lucknow Name Change: త్వరలో లక్నో పేరు మార్పు… క్లూ ఇచ్చిన యోగీ ఆదిత్య నాథ్..!

Is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath going to take another sensational decision? That is the only answer coming. News is coming that the capital Lucknow is going to be renamed in the same way that many towns and cities have been renamed in the past. A tweet by a yogi to bolster this is now the talk of the town. Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived in Lucknow on Monday evening, Yogi Adityanath tweeted, “Welcome to Lucknow, the holy city of Seshavatari Bhagwan Laxman.”

With this, there was a discussion on social media that the name of Lucknow would soon change to ‘Lakshmana Puri’. Landmarks of Lakshmana can already be seen in many places in Lucknow. There is already a temple dedicated to Lakshmana in Lucknow. Lucknow already has many historical sites named after Lakshmana. Lakshmana Tila, Lakshmana Puri and Laxman Park. In addition, BJP leaders have repeatedly demanded that Lucknow be renamed ‘Lakshmana Puri’ or Lakhan Puri. It is in this context that there is speculation that Yogi Sarkar will change the name of Lucknow.

Meanwhile, the Yogi-led BJP government has changed the names of some cities and towns in Uttar Pradesh in the past. Allahabad was renamed Prayag Raj and Faizabad was renamed Ayodhya. At present there are demands to change Sultanpur to Kushbhavanpur, Aligarh to Harigarh, Main Puri to Mayan Puri, Sambhal to Prithviraj Nagar or Kalki Nagar, Firozabad to Chandranagar and Devbandh to Devrand. In the past there has been political controversy over the change of these names. The Congress party along with the Samajwadi Party opposed the change of names. Yet the Yogi Sarkar did not back down.
