Villagers of Ladnapur, a Singareni displaced village in the Ramagiri zone of Peddapalli district, have been protesting for a month. Urukobomani warns that the village will be forcibly evacuated as part of the OCP2 expansion.
Clashes continue between Singareni authorities and residents of Ladnapur, a Singareni landless village. Tensions have risen after Singareni authorities demolished houses in the village with the help of police. It is alleged that the Singareni authorities are trying to forcibly evacuate Ladnapur village in Ramagiri zone of Peddapelli district as part of the OCP 2 expansion. A large number of villagers staged a dharna in front of the OCP 2 gate.
Residents are trying to prevent Singareni employees from going into the mine. Landfills rammed into the OCP2 quarry last Sunday. They were chased by police who tried to stop them. Clashes broke out between the landlords and the police during the incident.
Concerns continue that 283 landless families in Ladnapur village have started work in the village without paying compensation and paying the package. Residents are demanding to give a package, house space to everyone under the age of 18 in displaced families. Residents are outraged that they will be worried until full compensation is paid and that there is no mention of the dharna being called off.
On the other hand many politicians stood by the Singareni settlers. The villagers are questioning what is going on without giving the due compensation. Singareni officials say they have provided compensation to all those who lost their lands and houses in OCP2.
