The world famous holy Dham Yatra resumed on Tuesday despite heavy rains at the holy site of Kedarnath in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. Due to rain, the number of devotees visiting Kedarnath has reduced slightly. Pilgrims enthusiastically continue their journey to Baba Kedarnath temple despite rain and flooded roads. The entire town of Kedarnath is shivering due to fog in the region. Amid the downpour, the Rudraprayag administration stopped the passengers at safe places to inquire about their safety. The number of pilgrims has also reduced significantly due to monsoons in the state.
Last month there were 8 to 10 thousand passengers per day. But now it is reported that only 2 to 3 thousand pilgrims travel to Dham. On July 12, Uttarakhand received heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains on July 13 as well. Earlier on Saturday, the Kedarnath Yatra was suspended to ensure the safety of the pilgrims in the wake of fear due to heavy rains in Sonprayag, Uttarakhand. Started again today.

The Kedarnath Yatra is one of the four pilgrimages known as Chardham Yatra in the Himalayas. Lakhs of pilgrims visit the Kedar Baba temple here. The other three shrines are Yamunotri, Gangotri and Badrinath. Four places – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath – are combined to form Chardham Yatra.
