He won as Madugula MLA for the Congress party in 2004. He won the 2019 elections as an MLA for the YCP.
YCP MLA Karanam Dharmashree, who recently reacted to the arrival of a teacher job, recalled that he was 30 years old when he wrote the DSC. He said he had studied BEd at Annamalai University in Madras and wanted to settle down as a teacher. However BL claimed to have practiced after 1998 DSC slipped into controversy. He joined the Congress party at that time and worked in the district youth wing. He made it clear that he would not have gotten into politics if he had gotten a job as a teacher in 1998 itself.
