Central Govt key announcement in Parliament on Jamili election: It seems that the center is preparing to hold Jamili elections. The Center made a key announcement in the Parliament on Jamili’s election. It is said that the issue of holding simultaneous elections to all state assemblies to the Parliament is under consideration. It has been revealed that Jamili has discussed the election with the Parliamentary Standing Committee and CEC. The Center also disclosed that it has discussed with many stakeholders. But it has been revealed that the Parliamentary Standing Committee has made some recommendations on this Jamili election.. Currently the Law Commission will examine these.. It has revealed that it will study the feasibility of Jamili elections. The Center has revealed in the Parliament that public money is being misused due to separate elections. In these eight years, Rs. 7 thousand crores have been spent on elections.
The BJP has been trying since coming to power to conduct elections at a time when elections are becoming a financial burden. The BJP government believes that there is a possibility of saving the public money by conducting elections to the Parliament and the Assemblies of all the states at the same time. In 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Jamili elections. NDA Sarkar wants to bring a new policy to conduct Jamili elections as part of “One Nation – One Election”.

Between 1952 and 1967 in independent India, parliamentary and state assembly elections were held four times. Jamili elections were held in 1952, 1957, 1962 and 1967. After that due to many states going to early elections and the fall of governments in some states, Jamili elections broke. The Central Election Commission conducts elections for any state after the five-year tenure limit expires. Currently, the Law Commission is studying the Jamili elections. Meanwhile, five constitutional amendments have to be made in the constitution for Jamili elections to be held. Half of the states of the country have to approve this constitutional amendment. As BJP is currently in power in majority of the states, the chances of this being possible are high.
