Kerala State leads the country in terms of literacy, best gram panchayat system as well as technology and internet usage. Kerala has recently achieved another feat. It has gained recognition as the state with its own internet services in the country. The state CM Pinarayi Vijayan disclosed this through Twitter. The Vijayan government has launched this scheme to make internet accessible to everyone in Kerala.
As part of the ambitious IT infrastructure project undertaken by the government to make internet accessible to everyone in the state, Kerala Fiber Optic Network Limited has received an Internet Service Provider license from the Department of Telecommunication. He said that through this project, Digitar will help bridge the gaps in society in the state. In Kerala, through this scheme, 30,000 government offices will provide internet to those below the Below Poverty Line (BPL).

“Kerala has become the only state in the country to have its own internet services… Kerala Fiber Optic Network Limited has received an ISP license from the Department of Communication… Our prestigious KFON project will start operations to provide internet as a basic right to the people,” Kerala CM Pinarayi said.
