Sri Lanka won the second Test against Australia at Galle. Together they won the innings by 39 runs and leveled the two-Test series at 1-1. With this, the Sri Lankan team registered their fourth victory in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23. This is Australia’s first defeat in the second phase of the WTC. In this background, Sri Lanka has brought a blow to the position of Australia and also to the position of Team India. With the latest defeat, Australia has dropped from the top spot in the WTC points table to the second spot. Second-placed South Africa topped the list with a winning percentage of 71.43.

With the win against Australia, Sri Lanka moved up from the fifth position to the third position. Team India, which was ranked third so far, has dropped to fifth place. Pakistan is still in the fourth position. West Indies are in sixth place, England in seventh place, New Zealand in 8th place, Bangladesh in 9th place and Zimbabwe in 10th place. As part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23, India have so far played 12 Tests through four series, out of which they have won six matches and lost four matches. While two of India’s defeats were on the tour of South Africa, the other two were on the tour of England. Two more Tests ended in draws.
