Gold Smuggling: బెంగళూర్, ట్రిచి, చెన్నై ఎయిర్ పోర్టుల్లో బంగారం పట్టివేత

No matter how many measures are taken by the authorities, somehow illegal gold from abroad continues to reach the country. Airports are becoming a platform for smuggling of gold. Gold has been seized at a number of airports in India in recent times. Recently, illegal gold was seized at Karnataka, Bangalore, Tamil Nadu, Chennai and Trichy airports.

Authorities seize a large quantity of gold at the Bangalore International Airport. At travelers coming from Dubai, Rs. Customs officials seized 2.8 kg of gold worth Rs 1.44 crore. Customs officers tried to turn the gold into paste, pack it in plastic covers and hide it in a luggage bag without any suspicion. The affair came to light after an inspection by customs officials. The gold was seized and a case was registered.

In another incident, a large quantity of gold was seized at the Chennai International Airport. Passengers coming from Colombo will be charged Rs. Customs officials seized 3.7 kg of gold worth Rs 1.7 crore. The couple turned the gold into paste and packed it in plastic bags and hid it in a luggage bag. Another plastic cover was left at the washroom by the catchers. The gold was seized from the two men and they were arrested.

Authorities at the Trichy airport have seized a large quantity of gold on information that it was being smuggled. 19 foreign gold bars were seized on an Indigo flight returning from Singapore. Gold is being smuggled into India by hiding in aircraft lavatory. The total value of gold weighing 1450 grams is Rs. 75,71,900.
