Government employees who no longer want to travel on planes must strictly adhere to these rules. The Ministry of Finance has brought in some new regulations. Designed these rules to reduce unnecessary costs.
Government employees are advised to opt for the lowest priced ticket class in Travel Class on flights. Those traveling for tours and LTC are advised to book tickets at least three weeks in advance. Employees are advised to book only one ticket for their trip, even if the tour program is in the approval process. The Finance Ministry said government employees should buy air tickets only from authorized travel agents and only from Balmer Lorry & Co, Ashok Travels and Tours, IRCTC.
Even if the travel is booked within 72 hours or canceled within 24 hours, the employee will have to submit a justification himself. All employees must book a ticket for the same trip only through the same travel agent. Flight ticket must be booked 21 days prior to LTC departure. In case of unavoidable circumstances of booking tickets from unofficial travel agents or websites, only the Joint Secretary or a higher level official will be required to grant relief.
The finance ministry has asked all ministries to pay the arrears to the travel agent within 30 days of the completion of the trip. All arrears to be paid by the Ministries to Travel Agents by August 31, 2022 should be cleared. Reduction of tariffs on petrol and diesel, reduction of customs duty on certain commodities, higher fertilizer subsidies and rising financial costs under the free food scheme for the poor are on the rise. The ministry is looking to reduce unnecessary expenses with this.
