TDP chief Chandrababu has written to APCS Sameer Sharma demanding a judicial inquiry into the death of Dalit youth Narayana in Udayagiri of Nellore district. Chandrababu also sent a copy of the letter written to CS to DGP Rajendranath Reddy. Chandrababu said that Dalit youth Narayana died due to police beatings.. Political opponents, Dalits, minorities, women and BC communities are being targeted by police brutality, said Chandrababu. Narayan’s death is a proof of brutal working style of police by a section of AP. Chandrababu alleged that on the instigation of those from the ruling party, the police took Narayana into custody on June 17 and subjected him to film torture in the name of investigation. In a letter written to the CS, Chandrababu explained that on June 19, Narayana was found hanging from a tree on the outskirts of his village in a suspicious condition.

In the letter, Chandrababu opined that it is known that the postmortem report stated that Narayana died due to police torture. Chandrababu criticized Narayana for detaining him in the name of investigation and causing his death by torturing him in custody without registering an FIR. Chandrababu alleged that after the post-mortem, Narayana’s body was cremated while it was supposed to be buried according to family customs. It is very important to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the role of Sub-Inspector of Podhalakuru Police Station in this incident. They demanded that Narayana’s postmortem report should be made public and that financial assistance of Rs. 50 lakh should be provided to Narayana’s family. Chandrababu asked CS Sameer Sharma to conduct a judicial inquiry into the entire incident or conduct an inquiry with the Central Investigation Agency and take action against the accused.
