With the sudden death of former minister and late MLA Mekapati Gautam Reddy, by-election to Atmakuru Assembly constituency was inevitable. In the wake of this, the Central Election Commission on Wednesday evening released the schedule to hold by-elections for the vacant MP and MLA seats in various states of the country. This includes the Atmakuru Assembly constituency of Nellore district in AP.
The notification for the by-election will be issued on May 30 regarding the Atmakuru assembly seat. The nomination process begins as soon as the notification is released. The process of withdrawal of nominations will continue till June 9. Polling will be held on June 23. The counting of votes will take place on June 26.
The YCP has already completed its dominance exercise over the candidate in the Atmakur by-election. With the death of Mekapati Gautam Reddy being an inevitable by-election, CM Jagan has left it to the Mekapati family to decide who will be in the fray. With this, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy decided to field his grandson Vikram Reddy as a candidate. Mekapati Vikram Reddy will be the brother of the late Minister Gautam Reddy himself. Vikram Reddy completed his education at Good Shepherd Public School in Ooty. Graduated from IIT Chennai. MS in Construction Management in America. After Gautam Reddy entered politics, he served as the Managing Director of their family company KMC.
