The BJP is preparing for the Rajya Sabha elections. It has appointed Union Ministers in-charge for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been appointed in-charge of Rajasthan, Haryana Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav have been appointed in-charge of Karnataka.
Elections to the Rajya Sabha seats in these four states will be held on June 10. The BJP is formulating strategies to win more seats in these states. The BJP has fielded 22 candidates in the Rajya Sabha elections. Although there is a clear majority in the Lok Sabha, the BJP does not have much strength in the Rajya Sabha. This is causing difficulties in the passage of key bills. That is why the BJP has taken this election as a key one.
It has fielded two candidates from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. It has fielded three candidates from Maharashtra, including Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. Hopes to win third place here as well. In Karnataka, the Congress-JDS alliance has fielded three candidates to win the third seat here as well.
