State Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has said that candidates contesting the Nellore district Atmakuru by-election will be given the opportunity to include personal information in the nomination form and affidavit online. Mukesh Kumar Meena also said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has given them the opportunity to file nominations, get appointments and conduct campaigns. He suggested that the candidates contesting this election should avail this opportunity through the portal www.suvidha.eci.gov.in.
Mukesh Kumar Meena said the Central Election Commission (CEC) had scheduled the by-election for the Atmakuru assembly seat to be held on June 23 this year. He said the Election Code came into force on the 25th of this month with the announcement of by-elections and urged all political parties to abide by the electoral code from then on. He said nominations for the Atmakuru by-election should be filed by June 6, scrutiny of nominations would be held on June 7 and the last date for withdrawal would be June 9. The by-election will be held on June 23 from 7 am to 6 pm and the counting of votes will take place on June 26. The entire by-election process is expected to be completed by June 28.
State Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena said that according to the final voter list published on January 5 this year, voters who have registered their names in the electoral roll by 3 pm on June 6 will also be considered in the polls. He said a total of 2 lakh 16 thousand 5 general and service voters have been registered for the Atmakuru assembly constituency as on May 29. He said there were 278 polling stations in the Atmakuru assembly constituency and an additional temporary auxiliary polling station would be set up at the rate of one polling station for every 1250 voters. He said EVMs were being used in this by-election.
Mukesh Kumar Meena has said that as per the directions issued by the Supreme Court, the candidates contesting the elections as well as the concerned political parties have been required to advertise the criminal criminals of the contesting candidate through various newspapers and TV channels on three occasions during the campaign period. He pointed out to the representatives of all parties that once within the first four days of the sub-withdrawal of nominations, once again between the fifth and eighth day, and again within the ninth day to the last day of the campaign, the criminal antidotes of the candidates should be advertised through various newspapers and TV channels. Kovid said the guidelines issued by the central and state governments in this regard must be followed in the conduct of this election. He clarified that candidates contesting the elections, political parties and star campaigners would not be given any permission to hold further rallies and meetings if they violated any of the Kovid guidelines.
Mukesh Kumar Meena said that Sri Potti Sriramulu will be the Nellore District Collector Chakradharbabu District Election Officer and Joint Collector MN Harendhira Prasad will be the Returning Officer for the Atmakuru by-election. He suggested that along with them, Sri Potti Sriram could also approach Nellore District Superintendent of Police CH Vijayarao regarding the by-election.
