The election campaign will be held again in a few days in AP. With the untimely death of Minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy, it was inevitable that the Atmakuru by-election would be held. Today marks the end of the Atmakuru by-election nominations. Officials said 13 nominations were filed on Monday, the last day. It was clarified that a total of 28 nominations have been filed. Nominations will be considered on Tuesday. With the TDP out of the main opposition for the Atmakuru by-election, the competition will be mainly between the YCP and the BJP. Gautam Reddy’s brother Vikram Reddy from the Mekapati family is in the ring as the ruling party YCP candidate.
Atmakuru on the other hand has appointed YCP in-charges for the by-election. Ananthasagaram Zone Minister Meruga Nagarjuna, MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, AMS Peta Zone Minister Jogi Ramesh, MLA Peddireddy Dwarakanathreddy, Atmakuru Town Minister Anjad Basha, MLA Gandikota Srikanth Reddy, Atmakuru Rural Zone Minister Karumuru Nageswara Rao, MLA Topudurthi Prakash Reddy and Minister Reddy Reddy. K. Roja, former minister Kodali Nani, valid minister Venu Gopal for Marripada zone, former minister Anil Kumar Yadav, minister Narayana Swamy for Sangam zone and MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy have been appointed by the YCP.
