AIIMS: West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, who was arrested in connection with the teacher recruitment scam, has chronic health problems but does not require hospitalization, the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar said. AIIMS Executive Director Ashutosh Biswas said that they have thoroughly examined Chatterjee. He has some chronic diseases. There is no need to go to the hospital immediately.

The Kolkata High Court on July 24 ordered the Enforcement Directorate, which had arrested Chatterjee in connection with the scam, to take him to a health center in a neighboring state by air ambulance. In this background, the authorities shifted him to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar. The ED informed the court about Chatterjee’s health and asked for 14-day custody of the Bengal minister. The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday arrested Partha Chatterjee in connection with a money laundering case linked to the teacher recruitment scam. The arrest followed the seizure of Rs 20 crore from his aide Arpita Mukherjee, who was also arrested.

Meanwhile, the authorities suspect that this amount is the money received in the SCSC scam. However, authorities said that everywhere in Arpita Mukherjee’s house, bundles of Rs.500 and Rs.2,000 notes were seen.
