ONGC: Helicopter makes an emergency landing over the Arabian Sea.

A helicopter belonging to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) in Mumbai made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea. While there were 9 people in it .. so far six people have been rescued. Steps were taken to rescue the rest.

A helicopter carrying six ONGC crew, a contractor and two pilots made an emergency landing near ONGC’s Rig Sagar Kiran on Tuesday, the company said on its Twitter platform. The helicopter landed on the sea with the help of floaters. The company said it took supportive action immediately after receiving the information. The Indian Coast Guard was also involved in the relief efforts. Two ships were diverted toward the site for a rescue operation. It is not yet clear why the helicopter landed.

Official sources said a Dornier plane departing from Daman had dropped a life raft in the area to rescue them. The crash site was about 7 nautical miles from Mumbai in the Arabian Sea. ONGC has set up several rigs to produce oil and gas from marine reserves.
