Dinkar Gupta: ఎన్ఐఏకు కొత్త బాస్

The Central Government has appointed IPS officer Dinkar Gupta as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Recruitment Committee (ACC) on Thursday appointed former Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta as the NIA boss. Dinkar Gupta of the 1987 Back Police Service served in the Punjab Cadre. Charan Jeet Singh Channy, who took over as Chief Minister last year in place of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, removed Dinkar Gupta from the post and transferred him to the Police Housing Corporation.

Dinkar Gupta has been waiting for the Central Deputation for over a year. Gupta was the DGP during Amarinder’s tenure as chief minister and his wife Vinnie Mahajan, an IAS officer, was the Punjab CS. She was recently appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Water Power. During the reign of Amarinder Singh, the couple became known as the “Powerful Couple”. Dinkar Gupta will be the NIA chief till March 31, 2024 or until further orders.

Meanwhile, the Center has appointed Swagat Das, Special Director, Intelligence Bureau, as the Special Secretary, Internal Security, Ministry of Home Affairs. Swagat Das, a 1987 batch IPS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, will hold the post till November 30, 2024.
