Srilanka Crisis: Ancient artefacts disappear from Sri Lankan presidential palace

Sri Lanka is reeling under severe economic crisis. Serious agitations are going on there since March. Along with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is blamed for Sri Lanka’s economic crisis. Both of them resigned recently. Sri Lankan Parliament elected Ranil Wickramasinghe as the new President. It is known that two weeks ago, the agitators took over the president’s office and the president’s office in Temple Trees, Colombo, demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Due to this blow, Gotabaya Rajapaksa escaped to Maldives and from there to Singapore.

The protesters stayed in the presidential palace for almost a week, drinking alcohol, cooking and eating, and smoking. These videos have gone viral on social media. Meanwhile, a new thing has come to light. It has come to light that more than 1000 ancient artefacts in the presidential palace and the Prime Minister’s house have disappeared. The police have started an investigation there. The Sri Lankan police say that the value of these is also high. It is suspected that these were taken away by the agitators occupying the presidential and PM buildings.

Meanwhile, the new government will take action against the protesters. It seems that the police attacked the protestors in Galefage in the early hours of Friday morning. Rights organizations have condemned the incident. Condemns attacks on peaceful protesters. Newly elected President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that people have the right to hold peaceful protests. Powers were given to the army and police to prevent them.
