Kaleshwaram project-National status: After the formation of Telangana, Kaleshwaram project is the most ambitious project of the TRS government. The government has constructed this project at a cost of more than one lakh crores with the intention of revitalizing the waste lands of Telangana. The earlier Pranahita Chevella scheme was renamed Kaleshwaram project under the name of redesign. The project was constructed to lift the water of Godavari by constructing Parvati, Saraswati and Lakshmi barrages on the Godavari river with associated pump houses. Meanwhile, the Telangana government is demanding the center to give national status to such a huge project. If not Kaleswaram, then Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project is demanded to be given national status. TRS leaders are criticizing the Center for neglecting Telangana state by giving national status to the Upper Bhadra project in Karnataka.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Uttam Kumar Reddy recently questioned the Center regarding the national status of the Kaleshwaram project. The Center has made it clear that there is no national status for the Kaleshwaram project. Union Minister of State for Hydropower Bisweshwar Tudu answered the question asked by Uttam Kumar Reddy to this extent. He revealed that CM KCR wanted to give national status to the Kaleshwaram project.. But there is no investment clearance for this project. It has been revealed that the Kaleshwaram project is not eligible to be included in the national project scheme. Let’s see how the leaders of Telangana government and TRS will react to the answer given by the Centre.
