Draupadi Murmu became the 15th President of India. Murmu created history by becoming the first tribal woman president and the second woman president in India. Draupadi Murmu contested with the support of the NDA alliance and defeated Yashwant Sinha, the joint candidate of the opposition, in the counting of presidential votes held on Thursday. Draupadi Murmu, who won as the 15th President of India, is being congratulated all over the country. Current President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated the future President. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his congratulations to Draupadi Murmu. The Prime Minister expressed special thanks to the MLAs and MPs who supported Draupadi Murmu across parties. Modi said that her victory is a good sign for democracy. He praised that this victory has become a ray of hope for the people of Murmu.
